About Rosson House Museum [-]

The Rosson House Museum is a fully-restored 1895 Queen Anne Victorian house museum which interprets the history of Phoenix. Tours of the house include all living areas and offer visitors a glimpse into the lifestyles of early Phoenix families. Admission to the Rosson House Museum is by guided tour only. Our wonderful docents will lead you through the museum, telling the stories of  the residents who lived there, the history of Territorial Arizona, and interesting tidbits about Victorian America. All tours last approximately 60 minutes. The maximum number of people per tour is 12. Groups of 8 or more require reservations. Click the button below to purchase tickets for admission. A Child’s Life in 1900 - Field Trip : A Child’s Life in 1900 is a two-hour, interactive field trip program that offers four exciting learning stations. Your students will rotate through the stations in small groups, allowing for a personal and hands-on experience.
The stations include :
Rosson House Tour : A tour of the Rosson House introduces school children to the Goldberg family with their two young daughters Selma and Hazel, and baby brother, Chester. Trained docents help students explore themes including the history of Phoenix, transportation, medicine, technology, politics and lifestyles.

Chores : Using both real and reproduction artifacts, students learn first-hand about the chores their turn-of-the-century counterparts may have done. They wash laundry using a scrub board, wringer and clothesline, beat the dust out of rugs, and try their hands at old fashioned vacuums and irons.
History Detectives : While exploring historic documents and photos, students become detectives, making theories about territorial Phoenix and the Goldberg girls based on empirical evidence.Games - Hoop and Stick was once a favored outdoor game. Students try their hand at controlling the wooden hoops while racing their classmates. A Child’s Life in 1900 is currently geared for third, fourth and fifth grade classrooms. It meets the Arizona Department of Learning Standards for Social Studies Strand 1 American History, Social Studies Strand 4  Geography and Science Strand 3  Science in Personal and Social Perspectives.

Rosson House Museum & Heritage Gallery : Field Trip : The Rosson House Museum and Heritage Gallery field trip is a great alternative for older classes or those with limited time. You and your students will learn about the history of Phoenix. During your 60-minute visit, a trained docent will introduce students to details about the architecture and décor of the Rosson House. Yours students will learn about the lifestyles of turn-of-the-century Phoenicians. This tour also includes a visit to our Heritage Gallery which currently features the exhibit Victorian Secrets.
